The Stoneman Douglas Symphonic Band earned all Superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association State Music Performance Assessment. For this outstanding accomplishment, the Symphonic Band was presented with the prestigious Otto J. Kraushaar Award, the FBA’s highest honor. This award, named for the FBA Hall of Fame member, Otto J. Kraushaar, is given only to those few bands in the state who earn all superior ratings from all judges at all Music Performances Assessments for the entire school year. This marks the highlight of what has been one of the most successful years in the Band’s illustrious 22 year history!

Dr. Ray Lichtenwalter’s wrap up comments: Excellent job tonight guys and congratulations from your fans, what a great night! I’m glad to have a chance to hear you and wish you the best for future success. I thoroughly enjoyed the performances. It’s nice to be back in Florida.

Dr. Stephen Gage’s wrap up comments: Nice job! I enjoyed the band very much. What a wonderful level of integrity, preparation, and commitment to excellence. My comments were spontaneous reactions to sounds I head, but I don’t want those to cloud what I felt was a really terrific performance of three great pieces. Thanks for sharing your time and talents. Tonight, I loved the bow. I loved the passion of your parents and grandparents! Everybody here appreciates your performance tonight. Best wishes to you.
