Congratulations to the Stoneman Douglas Jazz Band for their outstanding performance at the 2008 Florida Bandmasters Association State Jazz Band Music Performance Assessment (MPA). The band received Straight Superior ratings in performance fundamentals, technical accuracy, and musical effect.

Congratulations to the Stoneman Douglas Symphonic Band for their outstanding performance at the Florida Bandmasters Association District 15 Concert Band Music Performance Assessment. Not only did the band receive straight “A”s in every caption which include performance fundamentals, technical preparation, and musical effect, but they also received Straight A’s in Sight-Reading of a March and a Overture. And to top it off, Band Member, Ian Rosenberg, received straight A’s as student conductor. He was graded in the areas of conducting fundamentals, gestural vocabulary, and musical effect. This was the 18th year of Superior ratings for the Symphonic Band. Also, the Band has qualified for the 2008 Florida Bandmasters Association State Concert Band MPA in April.
